RCLA Plans for 2015 (Upcoming)

nuthatchIn 2015 we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rachel Carson’s fifth book, The Sense of Wonder. And we are making the Sense of Wonder concept one focus of RCLA’s activities for the coming year.

RCLA will be conducting The Rachel Carson Intergenerational Sense of Wonder Contest in 2015 (see enclosed: “Sense of Wonder/Sense of the Wild” brochure for details.)

A Sense of Wonder Garden is planned for the Rachel Carson House grounds with over 100 pollinator friendly plants.

The May 2, 2015 Rachel Carson Open House will have a Sense of Wonder theme

Rachel Carson’s sense of wonder can benefit individuals for various personal reasons, it can help, as well, to protect our valuable natural resources many of which are currently under threat. “Wonder may be the keystone virtue [of] our time… a source of decency and hope and restraint.” (Kathleen Dean Moore in Sideris & Moore, Rachel Carson: Legacy and Challenge, 2008)
